How Etsy search works
Etsy matches buyer searches to your listing titles, tags, categories and attributes, and also considers listing quality and the buyer experience. No one can guarantee a top position, but clear and complete listings give you the best chance.
Write useful titles
Etsy allows titles up to 140 characters. Start with what the item actually is, then add key details such as material, style, size, occasion or recipient. Write phrases a person would search, not a string of repeated words.
Use all 13 tags well
You get 13 tags per listing. Use multi-word phrases that reflect real searches, and cover different angles, such as style, use, occasion and recipient, instead of repeating the same phrase.
Fill in categories and attributes
Choosing the right category and completing attributes such as colour, material and occasion helps your listing appear when shoppers use filters.
Win the click with photos
Your first image appears as a small thumbnail, so make the product clear and uncluttered. Add images showing scale, detail and the item in use.
Review and refine
Check Etsy Stats to see which listings and search terms bring visits. Refresh weak listings one at a time so you can tell what made the difference.
